Trevor Johnson

Director of AI & Creative

Summary

Director of AI & Creative at Compaytence, a payments company. I run a fleet of 20 agents across sales, ops, marketing and engineering, and I build the software they run on: Bips, the memory every agent reads from, and the tools the team uses every day. Before that I led communications for a statewide trade association as a registered lobbyist and national AI presenter, and grew a YouTube channel from zero to 63K subscribers and 60M+ views.

Experience

Director of AI & Creative · Compaytence

Aug 2025 – Present · Boise, ID

  • Promoted to Director of AI & Creative in July 2026, after a year as Marketing Manager.
  • Run a fleet of 20 agents on one shared memory core, drawing on a library of 38 reusable skills. Every build gets a separate audit, by a different model where possible, before it ships.
  • Built the tools the team uses: Ask Ops, an answer engine that shows its sources; Website Audit, a rule engine plus Claude; and Compaytence Chat, one inbox with a review queue for agent drafts.
  • Designed and built the company's entire web presence: marketing site, pricing and product pages.
  • Authored the design system, a 52-slide modular sales deck, a 36-section interactive merchant playbook, and an industry newsletter on payments and AI.

Communications & Marketing Manager · SD Auto Dealers & Trucking Associations

Jun 2023 – May 2025 · Sioux Falls, SD

  • Promoted from Communications & Marketing Specialist in January 2024.
  • Owned the association's voice end to end: social and email campaigns, website, and board communications. Presented nationally on AI integration to association leaders.
  • Registered lobbyist for the SD auto and trucking industries: built legislator relationships, testified in committee hearings, and grew PAC donations by turning legislative wins into storytelling campaigns.
  • Created a video podcast series from scratch: organized, hosted, filmed, edited and published.

Digital Media Strategy Consultant · Atlas Tuning & Performance

Jun 2023 – Present · Brandon, SD

  • Grew the shop's social media 1,800% in two years, planning and producing videos from concept to completion.
  • Designed and built their website: a video-hero brand site plus a 7-step remote-tuning checkout (React, Cloudflare Workers) that replaced a manual intake process.

Industry Affairs Intern · American Trucking Associations

Summer 2022 · Washington, DC

  • Produced video and marketing content for the Transport Topics webinar series, and continued as a freelance video producer for ATA after the internship.

Founder · Scooterantics

2016 – 2018 · Rapid City, SD

  • Founded a retail action-sports brand at 16, then licensed, stocked and ran the shop to $10K in sales in two years.
  • Built the marketing myself: a YouTube channel that has grown to 63K subscribers, 865 videos and 60M+ views, and rode as a Madd Gear sponsored rider.
